The Eclipse
In my last Lunar Eclipse chart, back in August, I wrote:
Much, though not all, of the same could be said about this particular chart.
In our chart, Libra is rising, and so the chart is ruled by Venus. Venus is in the Third House-- a cadent house, which weakens her; she is in Capricorn, in which she has no especial dignity. However, she benefits from a sextile to Mars, who is strong in his rulership, and a trine to Uranus. Uranus, as we've seen, is currently also in Taurus, the sign of his fall, and retrograde. Mars in Scorpio suggests conflict, often covert; Uranus in Taurus suggests revolution. What all of this is saying-- I think-- is that the common people, as opposed to the Elite, will find their position strengthened by chaos that this chart forecasts.
It needs to be mentioned that an eclipse in the Eighth House is said to foretell the death of leaders in the government. This indicator is strengthened by the fact that the Moon also rules the Tenth House of the Executive Branch.
A T-Square is a three-sided aspect, crying out for resolution; we find the resolution at the point on the chart at which the fourth corner of the square would be. In this case, that means around 25 degrees Leo-- in the Tenth House of the Executive Branch, in the sign which rules the Eleventh House of Congress. Expect serious shakeups in the government between now and March.

In Mundane Astrology, eclipses of the Sun and Moon always indicate trouble. The nature of that trouble is shown by the eclipse's placement in the chart; the duration of the trouble is shown by the length of the eclipse. At least in theory, a lunar eclipse is active for a number of months equal to the number of hours the eclipse lasts. The duration of our eclipse is about three and a half hours, so its effects will continue through the end of February-- probably right up until the New Moon on March 2nd.

The Eighth House is the House of Death. In a mundane chart it rules mass mortality. However, as the second house from the Seventh, it also rules trade and the money of other nations. A Lunar Eclipse in this House augurs difficulties in either or both of these areas. Now, the Sun, whose opposition is the cause of the Eclipse, is in the Second House of national wealth, and this strongly suggests that the trouble forecast by the eclipse relates to the nation's economy, especially as it pertains to foreign trade.
Our eclipse is in Taurus, sign of Demeter, the grain goddess, which relates to both agriculture and wealth. Serious difficulties are coming in the area of the nation's wealth and its produce. Chances are very good that this refers to difficulties related to the ongoing supply shortage, the impact of which is beginning to be felt by farmers, who are unable to get supplies to maintain their agricultural equipment.
Given the time of year, I think it's likely that there is going to be trouble around the usual Christmas shopping season. Goods that we are used to being readily available are going to be more rare. The fact that this is a partial eclipse, and of the Moon rather than the Sun, suggests that this won't reach catastrophic levels. But it will cause hardship.
The Eclipse is impacted by two additional aspects: An opposition to Mercury, and a square to Jupiter. The square to Jupiter further suggests an economic downturn, as Jupiter is the natural ruler of wealth. Moreover, Jupiter is also square to the Sun in this chart. When a planet squares to other planets which oppose one another, the three-way aspect formed is called a T-Square. It's a particularly malefic aspect. Jupiter's placement in the Fifth House of speculation suggests trouble in the stock market.
Mercury also relates to commerce and trade, and also suggests loud and intractable public debates (as if that were anything new).

Bread is also very easy to make, and to people who have spent their whole life eating bread that came out of a bag homemade bread tastes like divine revelation.
Demeter is the goddess of the harvest and material abundance. She is not unrelated to Saturn-- Sallust tells us that the sphere of Saturn is truly Demeter's sphere, and Saturn is a god in the series of Demeter. I refrain for comment on such matters, but readers familiar with the lessons of Saturn would do well to apply them to the current situation. Saturn teaches discipline, prudence, and the ability to suffer poverty. Those are Demeter's lessons as well. Those who sew in Spring will reap in Autumn; those who gather in Autumn will live through Winter.
